How to hit a size limit
- Pick a target. 100 KB and 200 KB cover most form uploads. Use Custom KB for a limit the chips do not list.
- Drop the images. PNG and WebP are saved as JPG, because that is what makes the file smaller.
- Change the target and the photos convert again.
What PicKept will not do
- A JPG that is already under the target is left as-is. Compressing it again would only make it worse.
- If the target is so small that the photo would have to become a thumbnail, PicKept stops and keeps a readable picture. The note on that file says it could not reach the target.
- HEIC photos need HEIC to JPG first. This page then compresses the JPG if the form still wants a smaller file.
Transparent PNG areas become white in the JPG.
